Furniture selections, arrangements, and material and finish selections. • Identifying design principle and elements, as they are used in an interior space. • Planning space for optimum function and aesthetics. • Illustrate the use of a functional furniture arrangement.
Survey of existing. Steps in measuring the as built, and creating existing condition plans for construction, furniture, lighting, and electrical plan. Beginning drafting skills in design are stressed. Understanding of demolition plan and how to draw floor plans and legends are highlighted.
Performing with increased expertise in graphic communications and professional presentation techniques for any interiors. Identify and illustrate architectural drawings and other methods of visually representing a design for an interior space. • Correctly represent scaled floor plans, furniture arrangement plans and elevations for a given interior space. • Identify and apply correct line weights used in architectural hand drafting and drawing generation. • Use practical applications and problem solving to evaluate methods of presentation based on the degree of importance to the outcome. • Correctly draw and present a lighting plan for given spaces. • Select and utilize correct lighting equipment and its application in creating functional environments for any residential space. • Identify types of light sources and their impact on color and interiors. • Creating 3 D view of the interior and architectural rendering techniques.
Study of material and finish selections that are used for interior design. Clearly presenting each material application in an interior space. Flooring, wallcoverings, carpeting, countertops, and drapery types are discussed. • Identifying materials and functional usage of each finishes. • Analyzing the effects of each finishes and materials on the color schemes in the space. • Various types of finish schedules are explored.
This course provides an overview of business and professional practices as they pertain to residential and commercial interior design. Develop an understanding basis for working with clients. • Career opportunities in interior design will be explored. • The personal qualifications and skills required for employment in interior design profession will be highlighted. • Gain an introduction to wholesale furnishing sources and showrooms. • How to open your own business. • Marketing • Social media effects are explored.
We interact with commercial interiors on a daily basis. Commercial interiors are facilities that serves business purposes with an intention of inviting public in, such as corporate offices, manufacturing facilities, restaurants, spa, hotels, retail stores, libraries, airport terminals, schools just to name a few.
